Meet the editorial advisory board

An introduction to the newest members of Women Legal's editorial advisory board.

Paulette Brown
Paulette Brown is a partner and the first chief diversity officer at US firm Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge LLP. She is a certified mediator for the United States District Court, District of New Jersey and an American Arbitration Association panel member. Recognised by the New Jersey Law Journal as one of the prominent women and minority lawyers in the State of New Jersey, she is also a frequent lecturer on diversity issues, particularly those relating to women and women of colour in law firms.
Paulette is a past president of the National Bar Association and the Association of Black Women Lawyers of New Jersey. She serves on the American Bar Association’s Commission on Women in the Profession and co-chaired the report, Visible Invisibility: Women of Color In Law Firms. One of Paulette’s proudest moments was when she led a delegation to monitor the first free and democratic elections in South Africa in 1994. She is also the proud recipient of numerous awards, including the Medal of Honor Award from the New Jersey Bar Foundation, the Equal Justice Award from the National Bar Association and the American Bar Association’s Spirit of Excellence Award. In 2008, she was also identified by the National Law Journal as one of The 50 Most Influential Minority Lawyers in America.

Jan Anne Dubin
Jan Anne Dubin is the North American business development director for international firm Baker & McKenzie. With more than 24 years of senior management experience, Jan is a pioneer in the profession of legal services marketing. Recently, Jan served as the 2008 co-chair of the Anti Defamation League’s Women of Achievement Annual Dinner Committee. She was selected by Today’s Chicago Women as one of 100 women in Chicago making a difference. She served as chair of the Chicago Chapter of PMForum North America and on the national board of directors of the Legal Marketing Association. She is a member of The University of Chicago, Women’s Business Group; the Senior Business Women’s Forum and is a founding member of the Professional Women’s Club of Chicago. She also served on the 2001 and 2003 steering committees of Springboard Midwest, a women’s venture capital initiative. She serves as a volunteer for Yéle Haiti, the non-governmental organisation founded by Grammy award winning hip hop artist and activist Wyclef Jean. She served on the advisory council of the Double E/Urban Youth High School – Chicago’s first public high school to link business with education.

Marianne M. Trost
Marianne M. Trost is founder of The Women Lawyers Coach LLC, where she coaches women to utilise their special strengths to develop their books of business and navigate critical junctures in their careers. Her commitment to helping women lawyers advance in the profession began in the mid-1980s when she developed one of the first women business development networking training sessions in the US. As a coach, Marianne provides support and guidance exclusively to women lawyers in the areas of business development and career transition. Marianne serves on the National Association of Women Lawyers Survey Committee on the Retention and Promotion of Women in Law Firms. She is a member of the Legal Marketing Association as well as a speaker, writer and blogger on issues affecting women in the law. In her spare time she is a volunteer for Soroptimist International, a professional women’s organisation dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls. Marianne has one daughter, age 10. Her hobbies include travelling, multi-cultural activities and spending time with family.
